The Kinsman Giant Bee Nester has a carcass made from rice husk and bamboo and has no plastic in its construction. It offers an extensive collection of nesting tubes (63) and is specifically designed for solitary bees including Mason Bees and Leafcutter Bees. The product provides up to 360 potential bee cells.
The nester can be fixed with a drainage pipe clamp or doubled rope against a wall fence or tree. However when fixing, it should be securely attached to ensure movement is minimised.
Siting: Fix in a visible warm place sheltered from rain, ideally orientated to face between south east and south and to catch some sun. Height should be between 1- 2 metres high, (max 3 metres) and it is helpful to have soil nearby to assist the bees in cell production, and food sources such as flowers, orchards and fruit.
Once bees start using the nester they will lay their eggs deep in the cardboard tubes, creating individual cells as they continue this process outwards. Later you will begin to see the ends of the cardboard tubes slowly being capped with either mud (mason bees) or small circular sections of leaf (leafcutter bees) as the bees seal off the ends of the tubes.
After this stage it is important to monitor the nester and look out for potential woodpecker damage (they will peck out the ends of the tubes eating the developing grubs inside). Later in the autumn this can be prevented by covering the front of the nester with a wire mesh (approximately 8mm grid) ensuring you leave around 3cm clearance from the tubes.
In Late autumn/early winter when cold or frosty weather prevails it is best to move the nester to an outhouse or similar to protect the developing bees, before returning the product to the garden ready for early spring when the risk of frost has passed.
Once used, you should see occupation and use of the nester increase every year.
Features:
•Environmentally friendly construction (no plastic)
•Offers up to 360 potential bee cells
•Easy to install and/or move
•Low maintenance

An interactive solitary bee and insect habitat constructed in durable FSC timber with individual cell trays which can be opened for inspection and/or cleaning.
This unique solitary beehive is designed specifically to attract non-swarming bees like the Red Mason Bee, Leafcutter Bee and other solitary bees. These friendly bees do not swarm, are gregarious and safe around children and pets. The bees are naturally attracted to holes in wood and the Wildlife World solitary beehive provides habitat that has become harder to find in modern gardens.
Fascinating and great for education, the beehive is designed not only as a habitat, but to be easily dismantled to see the formation of small cells where the eggs are laid, or indeed where predators have been active.
Always a friend to the gardener, attracting solitary bees to the garden is not only safe, but beneficial to pollination of flowers, fruit and vegetables.
Siting: Site in a visible warm place ideally oriented to face between southeast and south and to catch some sun. It is helpful to have soil nearby, and food sources such as flowers, orchards and fruit.
Composition: FSC and naturally durable timber such as alder, larch or similar, thin copper sheet.
Features:

•Educational
•Encourages beneficial solitary bees to the garden

Build your own Bee Habitat - Bee Nesting Tubes for Solitary Bees (safe pollinating bees) to increase vegetables, flower and fruit yields in your garden. Use as replacements in existing boxes or make (continues...)
Experience the fascinating world of bees - 50 Bee Nesting Tubes for Solitary Bees (safe pollinating bees) to increase vegetables, flower and fruit yields in your garden. Use as replacements in existing boxes, or make your own nester using a piece of drain pipe & string for hanging (example shown in image 2).
These specially designed tubes for solitary bees (mason/orchard/megachile spp) can be used to fill existing bee boxes, or to make your own simple bee nester. From March to August these bee species will lay eggs in the tubes and create a series of cells from mud or leaf. The larvae will develop over the winter period in the tubes and will then emerge the following spring.
If using your own box ensure it is well insulated, or take it into an outbuilding during winter for frost protection. When the tubes are filled it may be necessary to protect the tubes/eggs from woodpeckers. This can be simply achieved by placing some protective wire mesh over the face of the box.
Important Information: These products are for wild creatures and as such, you should not expect immediate habitation. We suggest you carefully read the supplied instructions for siting and provide this product in a suitable habitat for the target species. The Beepol Lodge is a live, moveable colony of native pollinating bumble bees (species: Bombus terrestris audax) for the garden, orchard, vegetable plot, or simply for education and interest.
The Beepol Lodge is a live, moveable colony of native pollinating bumble bees (species: Bombus terrestris audax) for the garden, orchard, vegetable plot, or simply for education and interest.
The purchase of the Beepol Lodge comes complete with a voucher for a colony of bumble bees which is delivered to you by special courier. The bees will be delivered to you in a special carton which is designed to fit directly into the wooden lodge and once inserted a small inner door in the carton is opened to release the bees into the lodge. Soon the worker bumble bees will be out to investigate and shortly afterwards will get active in your garden.
Bumble bees are great pollinators and will increase your fruit, vegetable and flower crops and are widely used in commercial horticulture for this purpose. One of the main advantages of the bumble bee is that they will work in all weather conditions, when other bees are not active, making the bumble bee one of the most popular bees for the garden.
The Lodge features an inner doorway which can be set to only allow incoming bees, which gives the option of allowing movement of the hive at night to a new pollinating area.
In the late autumn the workers will die off and the new queens will spend the winter period underground.
Replacement colonies for the Beepol Lodge are available annually.
Siting Instructions: The lodge should be installed on a tree, building or platform in a quiet/secluded area of the garden where it will be inacessible to unsupervised children and pets. Entrance holes should offer a clear flight path, offering easy access for the bees.
Features:
•Solid FSC cedar lodge
•Colony of bumble bee workers plus queen
•Boosts the pollination of flowers in your garden
•Helps to increase crop yield for fruit and vegetables
•Contributes to the conservation of British bumble bees
Observing Your Hive - After a week, your bumble bees would have settled into their new location and will already be bringing back pollen and nectar to the nest. Since the Beepol hive has a clear plastic top, you, might decide to inspect the nest from time to time. It is not necessary to do this, but if you choose to do so, you need to be careful not to frighten the bees.
